In Bruges, the Bell Tower

The Bell Tower featured heavily in the film 'In Bruges', a dark, comic tale. One of the running gags is the boring nature of Bruges. Not true, even in the rain. We spent a weekend there, excellent beer, mussels and chips. Saw, but did not visit, the Potato Museum and tracked down the Lace Museum that was determined not to be found. The latter was a triumph.
Our visit coincided with Belgium playing Argentina in the World Cup quarter finals. High expectations, lots of flags and face paint but no cigar. They just didn't perform. The Belgians were quietly disappointed then got on with their daily business.
