Wimpole Manor
We've had a very nice day at Wimpole Estate! The manor specifically. There was a farm and gardens etc too but the weather made that a bit difficult. Or we thought it would. We actually did have sunshine for most of the afternoon. We didn't have the energy for more than the house anyway!
The house itself was pretty damn impressive, one of the best we've been to I think. And it had some eccentric features too, such as the 18th-century indoor bath/swimming pool! Never seen one of those before. And there was an immense library there with about 10,000 historic books in it, the largest collection that the National Trust has. We watched a lady finish restoring one of the ones that had taken some water damage from a leak, it took her weeks just to do one and they had about four hundred to do! And of course we had our Downton Abbey moment when we explored the downstairs.
Everything timed out perfectly, we got gifts for everyone and we were the last ones out of the gift shop! And it only started to rain as we went back to the car.
