Common Lizard

Today my birdwatching group went to Gilfach Nature Reserves at Rhayader, Powys. I've been quite a few times, in fact it's one of my favourite reserves. There weren't as many birds around as usual but it's that time of year when they're not so obvious. There were lots of wild flowers and insects - butterflies were everywhere. This beautiful common lizard was basking in the sun and very obligingly posed for it's portrait to be taken.
