Bearly a moment to sit down....
This huge wooden sculpture sits proudly in the middle of one of only two woodlands on North Uist.
It commemorates Hercules, a bear who escaped from captivity and roamed wild around the island, feeding himself on salmon and anything else he could find before finally being captured.
He is the star of the little nature trail around the woods, and imagine the excitement of any children who suddenly find him!
The woodland is a haven for bird life and also gets you out of the wind for a while, which is quite a relief.
