The balance . . .

. . . of work and family time is expertly maintained by this guy. Although he couldn't join Alex and I for the full afternoon at the beach today, he did make it there after work and gave us a few wonderful hours of quality time with him only stopping once to respond to an email. Alex and I are so lucky to have him in our lives.

Before daddy arrived, I took Alex on his very first walk to the "Popsicle Store". This is a trek I made hundreds of times as a kid, always feeling so independent with no parental supervision and a pocket full of $ to spend on treats. I remember loving their vast selection of cheap candy and popsicles. Well, 25 years and a few different owners later, the store smells the same (so nostalgic), but is rearranged, absent of the penny candy and has a not-so-friendly person working there (well, at least today). We still accomplished our mission of obtaining a delicious rainbow popsicle, though, and had fun making the hike to and from the store together in the heat of the day.

In light of new experiences, I decided to let Alex make his first pay phone call when he asked what the booth with a phone was. Unfortunately, this experience was severely disappointing as it took my money and never connected our calls. I love how before we made the call, I texted daddy to make sure he picked up the call. Kinda defeated the purpose, but I didn't want to waste my 50 cents! Lol!

Uncle Larry took Alex out in his boat this evening and was naive enough to let the little bugger drive! Isaac and I laughed as we watched the boat do zig zags and hard, sharp turns. This kid has no fear when it comes to boating. That should be fun in a few years.
