Calligraphy
Set off this morning for another exploring day and called in at this beautiful paper shop on Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe, where the owner, a calligrapher, told us all about his paper and art. On the walls were letters addressed to him from all over the world, beautifully written. Then we tracked down the Berthillon shop and sampled the ice cream again, then onto a water bus and up to the Petit Palais, where we explored the museum and gorgeous gardens. Then decided to do the slog through the crowds to the Arc de Triomph and down to the Tour Eiffel. By this time it had finally become very sunny and warm thank goodness, and we waited for the boat in very hot sun.
Stayed on the boat all the way down the river and round the Ile de la Cite (we needed the seat!) and amused ourselves watching one couple who were in the middle of a row and a family where the teenage daughter couldn't stop picking at herself (and her family!)....very odd.
Then walked to some shops for V to buy bargain holiday clothes for her USA trip, and then dinner at a little restaurant that looked rubbish from the outside but the couple from Berkeley we'd met on Tuesday night had recommended. It was the Ambassador d'Auvergne on Rue du Grenier Saint Lazard near the Pompidou Centre. Fantastic! The best and biggest chocolate mousse I have EVER eaten.....excellent end to the trip!
