My Time Abroad

Do you guys do iced coffee here?

THE SUN LIVES! It was actually strange to wake up to the sun in my eyes this morning. I think this storm has passed for good and the forecast for this week looks great!

Went to a suburb in Auckland called Browns Bay. Got off the wrong bus stop and ended up doing a lot of walking but once we hit the beach the sights were worth it. It was our first real sight to see and it was amazing. There were so many dogs on the beach I was so jealous of everyone with their pups. It was a combination of sand and rocks it was really beautiful, it had streams running through it, I don't even know how to explain. Hard to believe this is the first and probably no where near the most beautiful place to be in New Zealand.

The town of Browns Bay was really nice and I got a real good sandwich at this cafè on the strip along the beach. It was grilled chicken with brie and cranberry sauce, reminded me a lot of Milk Bar's sandwich "Christmas in July" back in New Orleans. Was delighted to find a Starbucks up until I found out they don't have iced coffee. Real iced coffee truly does not exist here!!! How!? They don't know what they are missing! Why haven't they figured this phenomena out yet??

Back at the flat now and pretty tired for 5 pm. Got a lot of stuff to do before classes start tomorrow. I actually have Mondays off, but I have stuff to do on campus tomorrow too. No plans other than that for tonight yet but I will be sure to fill you in tomorrow should they be anything exciting.

Oh! And I heard Mr. Hampson's "Story of a Girl" on a public bus today! How crazy is that the man is still going strong with that hit and overseas too!
