Race for Life, Mote Park
Mote Park was buzzing yesterday as thousands of women ran for life to help beat breast cancer. So many were running groups were being set of at 15 minute intervals throughout the day on their 5k run around the park. As you can see it wasn't just a straightforward canter around the park, there were 7 or 8 obstacles to negotiate as well. We saw the pink tyre hopping as well as these tunnels. This lady is obviously fired up and enjoying the experience so far - although this obstacle was only 1km from the start. I believe the event is being held over 2 days, so more of the same tomorrow.
Back to more mundane things. We were on our way to town, through Mote Park, to find accessories for the automatic watering system we inherited when we bought the house. The system has needed modifying for years so today we were at last getting round to it. It was a bit of a wasted journey in some respects as the DIY store didn't stock the parts, but we enjoyed a cup of coffee, as you have to, in Pop's. One of which was free owning to a loyalty card.
We did get the stuff we needed, along with other stuff we didn't know we needed (as you often do when you go to DIY places and retail parks) and came home to re-arrange the system, which proved to be surprisingly easy. Just one or two tweaks to iron out and all should be well. (like where a fork was thrust into the supply pipe some years ago)
The evening turned thundery, but despite quite alot of banging and rumbling and dark clouds away to the north west we got away with a dry evening for a barbeque of sausages, home made burgers, new potatoes and salad.
