Work in Progress
I remade these PJs today. It was a bit of a saga. Determined not to cut any corners, I traced a new pattern onto greaseproof paper from the master pattern. Complete with ALL instructions, including 'fold lines'.
I then cut a pair of old PJs which were 3 sizes too big along all the seams. And slipped once with my stupidly sharp scissors to make a new hole to mend. Then pressed everything. Then laid the new pattern on the new pieces of fabric only to find the fabric was WAY smaller than the pattern.
Undaunted I carried on. WINGING it. Until I got to the drawstring two-dot opening. I went back to the pattern to position the dots. Only one dot. Back to the original pattern. The other dot was ABOVE the fold line. Which I'd cut along. Then I realised that if I cut off a waistband, I really did need to create something else to replace it with. So out came an old shirt. Snip, pin, sew, trim, zigzag, press. And back to the dots.
But now I've got fab new PJ bottoms, and I've relearned lots. Seven hours though. These are the most expensive jammies I've ever owned.
And I went out for a run this morning. I didn't want to go, but I am reading this book. EVERY run is a win. So I thought I'd go out for a slow steady 5k on the flat. I ended up doing my first sub 60 minute 10k. With HILLS. And I found a new mantra - "Is this really the best you can be?"
I think I'll use it outside of running too.
