Entrance to the Albert Gallery, Shandwick Place

I have noticed this entrance several times before, but obviously not in sunny weather that showed the name so clearly. Research shows that the Gallery, built in 1876, formed part of the Albert Institute of the Fine Arts, an organisation to encourage fine arts through exhibiting and selling. The Institute failed, and by 1885, the Gallery was converted in to an Army & Navy store. After that, the building operated as the West End Restaurant before eventually being converted for office use.
