Red breasted merganser
Another wander beside the Water of Leith today. Very interesting from a bird point of view.
A couple of pairs of goosander, a little grebe, tufted duck, goldeneye, scaup, mallard, long-tailed tits and my pal the robin were all spotted, and some were photographed.
However, this handsome merganser drake (Mergus serrator) won the blip-decision in his full breeding plumage. It's his irresistibly stupid punk hair-style that gets me :) The focus is a bit soft (always seems to happen over water) but he'll do for now ;)
Meles has now returned from the south, so we're off for a pizza and a glass of wine :)))
