Those were the days

This photo is 64 years old. It is Scotts, a chain of grocers, which became Fine fare, who then became Asda. The young lady in the right of the picture is my Mum who will be 80 on Wednesday, she was 16 when the photo was taken. If you look carefully you can see that the weetabix packets are more or less the same as they are today, and a loaf of bread was 2 1/2d. You bought your sugar in blue bags and the butter was cut and shaped then wrapped in greaseproof paper. Tea was bought loose by the ounce.
