A Flat Horizon
A prospect of South Birmingham from Maxstoke, Warwickshire
About the Day
Cleared out all those weeds, growths, and unloved things sent to hide down the side of our house.
About the Blip
Maxstoke lies on the 100m contour, but a kilometre or so to the east, is a ridge around 70m higher. I took a circular walk along the road leading out of Maxstoke towards Fillongley, then headed north through Bentley's Farm, then west along the road to Coleshill and eventually dipped into fields for the southerly return at Maxstoke Hall Farm. About three miles all told.
Hedges around here are twice a man's height, so when the characteristics of an approaching gate were detected, hopes ran high.
Even on the path from Maxstoke Hall Farm, those hedges stood high, but occasionally, perhaps by a tree, a passable gap appeared, encouraging me to slip through to the adjacent field where the hedge would be to my back. Then I could see this. Coleshill's spire just pokes out of the horizon to the right.
