Young Generation Game

Dundee today with Ciaran to meet my best friend Ruth and two of her boys.
We had a nice lunch at Dundee Contemporary Arts, but not before a quick skirt around the GENERATION show, Continue Without Losing Consciousness, which is being hosted there.
The boys were not impressed. They're teenagers. What can I say? They're tummies were a-rumbling and this contemporary art lark was not for them at that particular point in the day...
This shows a section of Raydale Dower's work, Untitled (Reoccurrence) 2014, assemblage of found frames, steel.
An interesting take on painting and the lack thereof in contemporary art. Or at least, that's what I took from it.
I liked it. In fact, I liked all his work, which was new to me.
Because the lads were in such a hurry to fill their boots, I've only just worked out that the strange blooping noise we kept hearing in the gallery was an audio work by Raydale called Single Drop 2013-2014, a 2min 22secs audio recording of a single drop of water slowed down at 75% speed.
According the leaflet I've just read, this process was repeated in sequence 16 times until the final recording was significantly slower than the actual event.
I'll need to tell Ciaran in the morning. He likes facts like this...
