The Milky Way over the Hawkdun Range, Maniototo
We've had another amazing day in the Maniototo ragion of Central Otago. Starting at Ranfurly we slowly made our way down to Patearoa, captivated by the wild and rugged scenery, old cottages and woolsheds, plus finding Hamiltons Diggings with its great reflections in the pond and the old Hamiltons Cemetery, high on the hill above the plains. We visited the Old Styx Hotel with its jail, a working wooldshed and an old wooldshed, driving over another Dry Weather Road (inches deep in mud in places) with huge boulders littering the wild landscape.
The highlight for me has been photographing the Hawkdun Range again, this time under starlight. What an amazing sky! Utterly beautiful.
Thanks so much for sending yesterday's Ida Burn image right to the top of Spotlight - I'm absolutely thrilled about that, particularly as it was a shot I took quite a bit of care with. I'm not doing well with commenting at present, but hope to catch up soon. Thanks again!
