Mylva
Mylva is a local actress who writes her own material, in the form of one-woman shows. Her speciality is acting out typical local characters -- she has a real eye for mannerisms and an ear for voices and turns of phrase which always make people laugh in recognition of people they know. This year's show, La coupe est pleine, features Célestine, the curé's assistant (and the curé and several churchgoers, all played by Mylva). I found it mildly amusing, but not as much fun as last year's play. However, the amphitheatre was full and her show was much appreciated. Difficult to take photos ... it was very dimly lit.
At lunchtime I celebrated freedom from dental appointments (last one yesterday) by treating myself to lunch at a restaurant in Lagrasse, La Cocotte Fêlée. The government is currently making a fuss about restaurants serving mass-produced boil-in-the-bag food. La Cocotte certainly won't fall foul of the new law. For 13.50 euros I had a choice of two starters, a single main dish, and two desserts. The salad was definitely freshly prepared, as was the spicy pork with rice, and the mango tarte tatin was delicious (it may well have been bought in from the local patisserie, but I don't see anything wrong with that). I left thinking we should eat there more often; the food is more exotic than the usual fare around here.
