Strike Three, I'm Out....

Speed Dating! Uugh!

I had a very productive and busy day, which was good. It was very hot, and not great all being cooped up together in the classroom but we've managed, with the doors and windows open, the blinds down, and the fan on continuously!

We had a 'Living Eggs' project as part of science week, so we've been lucky to see 10 baby chicks hatch. Today we were allowed to get them out on the field to have a little run around, with us all sat in a circle to prevent escapees! They were really cute, and apart from having a few near misses, it was good fun!

I wanted to get away early as I had to be in London for 7pm, but sod's law, our mind-numbingly dull staff meeting went on and on, to the point where my brain was screaming to get away. I left later than I wanted to, and only just got there in time. By the time I got to Waterloo I was even later as a couple of tube lines were down and there was a huge queue for taxis!

The speed dating was in East London, in a place that was quiet and well-hidden. I lucked out and got a nice cabbie who showed me where to walk after he dropped me off, and even stopped the meter running. I found it easily, but once I walked in I pretty much knew it would be a write-off.

I met some girls a similar age to me, and we got talking. They were very posh- one worked in "Assest Management" whatever the hell that actually means. And I am the poor teacher :-)

There was absolutely nobody there who met the criteria, and I was disappointed as I thought I would be meeting lots of city types in their suits. They were also supposed to be international graduate professionals- not so....I did meet a couple of doctor's, one of whom worked at the Royal London, in A & E, so of course my question was "have you been on TV?" And yes, he had!

I was glad to leave quite honestly, and I was out the door at 9:30pm when it was over, as there was no-one I wanted to continue talking with.

In all honesty, I'm now done with Speed dating. No respectable people actually go, it is always just a bunch of lonely misfits. Bit of a waste of £20, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, yet again I suppose.

I think the highlight was getting back to Waterloo and being able to grab a Hot Chocolate and my favourite sandwich at Pret, which I ate on the train home with all the exhausted commuters!

Home and bathed and in bed by midnight. Rock on....
