The Salty Dawg Saloon
We have arrived in Homer, Alaska.
The Salty Dawg Saloon is the iconic building of the Homer Spit. The saloon is constructed of three old log cabins and the more newly constructed lighthouse you see there.
Jutting out into the Katchemak bay, the Homer spit is the harbor for this local and is the take-off point for commercial and sport fishing as well as the ferry system for the bay.
The Salty Dawg Saloon is celebrating it's 50th year on the Spit, so we had to stop in for a few brews.
Planning to take the ferry out of Homer to Seldovia today for a nice walk on the Otterbahn Trail.
There is not much bandwidth out here and it takes forever to upload a post. Sorry, I am not able to review and comment on your journals, I will catch up upon returning.
