George and Sophia Wall

With the benefit of meticulous research by my brother Allan, today I was able to stand in the St. Kilda Cemetery and view the grave of my Great Great Grandfather and Grandmother, George and Sophia Wall.

George and Sophia set sail from Plymouth, England in 1850 and were members of the Canterbury Pilgrims who arrived in Lyttleton New Zealand in December 1850 after 99 days at sea. Their ship was the Randolph. We believe that shortly after they travelled to Melbourne where they resided in St. Kilda until they passed away.

George Wall was born in St. Clements Oxford England
Born 15th of April 1827 and Died on the 18th of February 1869 (41 years of age)

Sophia Wall (nee Grubb) was born in London (about 1831) and died on the 26th of April 1907 (75 years of age)

They were married on the 12th of August 1850 just before they travelled to New Zealand to start their new life. They had 8 children, one being my Great Grandfather Matthew Wall.
