Today's the day ........................ to not understand

Je ne comprends pas bien - le Tour de France.

I've spent most of the afternoon watching it on the television - and getting very excited because Geraint Thomas, Welsh hero of Team Sky was out the front leading. It was incredibly hard going too because they were up in the Alps and some of the hairpin bends on the roads up to the various summits were extreme to say the least.

Anyway - a matter of a few kilometres from the end, on the final up-hill climb, the commentator said, " Right, that's Geraint Thomas finished his job - he's dropping back now .....". And that was it. We hardly saw him again and his name was never mentioned. I've no idea what position he finished up in. The stage was won by this completely unknown (by me at any rate) rider who came from nowhere and took all the glory.

Well not completely all the glory - because he didn't get the coveted yellow jersey for winning the stage as you might think. That was given to the chap who came second?!

I have SO many questions - I hardly know where to begin ............................
