The bad news is that our car failed to start today. Not surprising since it had not been driven since February!

The good news is that it was brilliantly fixed by Norman.

The extraordinary news is that 25 years ago Norman used to work at Smithers Motors garage on The Ferry Road. He remembers servicing our original VW Beetle! Our first car! Now that really is evidence of an amazing memory and a further proof, if ever we needed it, of the smallness of the world!

Norman got us back on the road and pointed us to a local battery supplier where a new battery was fitted five minutes after the outlet should have closed. A refreshing lack of jobs worth all round.
