Old gravestone.

We took a trip to Durisdeer Church today for afternoon tea. The church is in the village of Durisdeer, a tiny place in the hills, and it was a lovely afternoon. The present church building is about 300 years old but there has been a church on this site as far back as the late 1300's. The old graveyard is very atmospheric, with old gravestones covered in moss and lichen, and when it came to the symbolism of death they didn't beat about the bush, so there were skulls and bones visible as well. I thought this example was unusual because of the figure of the woman carved into the stone.
