Clyde
The call to arms came late last night.
Glasgow daughter needs an extra pair of these commodities this lunch time to look after Ewan while she manned the till at the exhibition of 'Scotland Can Make It', a limited edition of 6 Scottish made souvenirs commissioned by her company Panel to mark the Commonwealth Games, and currently sold at South Block in Osborne Street, at the Trongate
With a police escort in the train, Glasgow was en fête in the sunshine when we arrived; there was street theatre, music, the ubiquitous human statues and pavement cafés.
There is something endearing about Glasgow with its gallus unselfconsciousness in the tide of humanity in all shapes and dress styles thronging the streets.
It's the norm there to strike up a conversation with people in lifts and queues, making it indeed the friendly city.
In Edinburgh one wouldn't consider such a thing lest you be considered odd or very lonely.
With duty over, it was back to Edinburgh and keeping to oneself in queues and lifts.
This is Clyde the very Glaswegian mascot for the Games
