Ramsay Garden

It is such a shame that today's glorious weather was absent yesterday evening for the concert at the Castle to celebrate the opening this week of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The haar which settled on the city might have been construed as atmospheric but made viewing hard as it swirled thickly over the performers, no doubt producing an outcrop of goosebumps on the ladies with sleeveless evening gowns.

This morning as we sashayed amongst the tourists, it was hot and airless.
Perhaps it was a mistake to walk home via the heights of Ramsay Garden, negotiating the hordes of people intent on visiting the castle, but there was the attraction of seeing some of the props being assembled at the top of the Mound for this afternoon's Jazz Festival cavalcade.

Despite my photo editor's vote of no confidence in this blip, ( he preferred the Scots Greys horseman with a bearskin sullied with pigeon droppings which stands in Princes Street), I like it for its colour and the play of shadows on a street you might not expect to find amongst the douce stone surroundings at the castle end of the Royal Mile.
