Fishing Never Ends

The Blue Herons here on San Juan Island are lucky...there is water everywhere and tiny fish are abundant. It is always fun to watch them...so clever as they stalk those fish, remain so still, and then strike. I loved how intently this fella was on the target...those eyes are so piercing.

Also check out my photos of the orcas, the killer whales that frequent the waters here during the summer. We drove over to Lime Kiln Point State Park this morning, and had to wait until lunchtime for the whales to arrive from the north, going south toward Cattle Point. They came right in close to the lighthouse, and gave us a real show. I was able to take a minute movie of two of them right closeup...they are awesome...gave me the chills!
