Small Copper
The great weather of the past few weeks has been perfect for butterflies.
On a small patch of uncut grassland near my cottage I counted 12 different species today.
None shone out more than the glint of burnished copper after which this little butterfly is aptly named, seen here on yellow ragwort.
To see so many species and all in good numbers is a delightful sight.
Well done to Glasgow for the superb opening ceremony to the Commonwealth Games and for introducing the charitable element with the slogan:
Put Children First.
I applied for tickets, but didn't get any so will have to make do with TV coverage.
Bring it on!!
