Honouring those who died last week
As the Dutch mourn their dead - those who flew on flight MH17 last Thursday - the country marked the return of the first coffins with a national day of mourning. A minute’s silence was held throughout the Netherlands at 4pm this afternoon, even in the most unlikely of locations.
We visited a play and amusement park earlier in the day and, even in a setting like this, respect was paid. This notice was posted across the park, notifying those present that the minute’s silence would be marked across the entire park.
