Pitching at Fenway

... Mini Fenway that is, in Oakland. It is an official Boston Red Sox field set up for Little League play.

Tonight, the team scrimmaged Lisbon. Colby pitched in the 4th inning, it's difficult, as a parent, to sit and watch him pitch. BJ works daily with him, both in hitting and pitching. Colby has proven time and again that he is a strong hitter and skilled pitcher - however, he struggles on the mound and at the plate during game play. We aren't sure what we can do to get him to focus on the task at hand and relax his nerves.

After the game, the lights were turned on, and the team seemed to enjoy playing a "fun game" with the coaches for a few extra innings. A late night getting home, but it was fun watching the team relax and laugh playing the game they all love.

This image shows his skill and form, and indeed, the throw was a strike. Despite his struggles, I am proud of the way he handles himself out there, his sportsmanship and his team spirit. Regardless of win or loss, he always looks forward to the next practice or game.
