Waiting for the Windermere - Hawkshead Ferry

A leisurely morning at the campsite. Unfortunately Barbara has injured her knee and cannot walk anywhere which rather curtails what she can do in the Lakes. But they were content to relax on the campsite while we went walking. Our route took us along the western shores of Windermere again, as we did in May only we had a longer time so we were able to knock off 7.5 miles before catching the ferry back.

Prior to the the evening meal we drove to the Swan Inn at Newby Bridge and sat outside above the River Leven which exits from the southern end of Lake Windermere. Very enjoyable too. A couple of wild water swimmers entered the river while we were there - complete with wet suits and towing a little buoy to show their position to passing boaters. They came back safely.

Then it was back to the 'van for the evening meal. Do you know, I can't remember what it was, but I do recall we enjoyed a glass of champagne before hand. This was a bottle I was given on my retirement 3 years ago and seeing as this year was both David's and my 60th birthday we thought this would be a good opportunity to see the back of it. It was good too, but I wish I could remember what we had to eat. Had red wine with the meal I know!
