Pontcysyllte aqueduct

We started the day bright and early at Pontcysyllte aqueduct. Built by Thomas Telford and William Jessop and completed in 1805, it is 1,007 ft long and 126 ft high. We walked all the way across and it was quite funny to note how many people (us included) were a little nervous being up there with no side to it along the water edge, even though we were a few feet away from it. It was fascinating though.

Next stop was the horseshoe falls in Llangollen. A lovely peaceful spot.

Our final stop was Valle Crucis Abbey for a wander round the ruins and then a drive up horseshoe pass and on homeward.

It has been a lovely couple of days (a late Christmas treat). Now we're back at mine and due to go out to a village band concert this evening. It is nice to think I have a day off tomorrow and another week away after that. We haven't planned what we're going to do yet.

p.s This is my 700th consecutive blip!
