Belfast Beauty

First day in Belfast for a wee city break. It was not as busy as Edinburgh is at this time of Year and is quite refreshing. Tourism is in it's infancy in this city, a nice time to come and visit.

This statue seems to have various names 'the ring of the thanksgiving', 'the becon of hope', 'The doll on the ball'. It was erected to symbolise the easing of the troubles in Northern Ireland. I love the structure of it. I was drawn to it the last time I was in Belfast.
