A Day of Many Parts
We planned a day of many parts. First up Holt for another bottle of gin. Just to be clear we haven’t even started the one we bought last week, but we wanted another to take home for our next wee holiday with friends in August. It will disappear fast! After much discussion BB bought the Lego movie – just out on DVD – with some money he had saved, though he needed a little extra. He saw the movie at the cinema, and has been desperate to have it on DVD for ages.
We then headed to The Walpole Arms in Itteringham for a delicious lunch. I could have sat in their garden all afternoon, but it wasn’t to be. We headed up the road to Mannington Gardens. We had been here last year, but only to the café. I think it was too hot and too soon after lunch - I’m not sure I really appreciated the gardens. Perhaps a siesta would have been a better move. I was much more intrigued by the house – a medieval, moated, manor house which is not open to the public. TT did spot a big eel in the pond which was probably my highlight!
As it was the last opportunity for crabbing we headed to Blakeney – but the tide wasn’t far enough in, so it was back to Wells for a very successful early evening crabbing session, with 94 lured up to the bucket. I should all that they were all released back into the harbour to be caught by the next lot of crabbers! Here are the crabbers on the quayside - spot the crab bucket - full of wee crabs. Not sure what BB is up to here, but probably off to check out the competition!
Home for fish and chips, tidying and packing.
