Gold medal contest

Today we enjoyed the Lawn Bowls at Kelvingrove. The highlight was the final of the mixed pairs for visually impaired bowlers - Scotland v South Africa. The accuracy of the players was amazing to see. Each player had a guide who helped them to know the line to follow. In the small insert top right you can see the guide standing with his foot in a position that the player could see, one of the South African guides also tapped his foot to give an audio guide. The game was all square after 13 ends but South Africa built on a score of three at the 14 and another three at the 15. It was disappointing that the podium was angled away from the spectators - all set up for the cameras!
