Sneak peek
Well not really, I couldn't post until after the actual Opening Ceremony, and then didn't have time to, so it's all a bit late! This is the bit of the ceremony (obviously excluding the atmosphere) which was better in person, the kids choir, as the TV coverage hardly showed them. A great evening out with my sister, the Commonwealths is going to be fantastic.
A quick list of the best/most confusing bits comparing the dress rehearsal and the actual event:
1) Not all the tea cakes had the proper tin foil cover on, some were still just shapes with black and yellow stripes, and we could not for the life of us work out what they were supposed to be.
2) The baton - when the wee girl from Jamaica was bringing it into the stadium, it was a baseball bat, but when it was coming off the boat it was an upturned empty water bottle, hilarious!
3) The real athletes who came to the dress rehearsal, first prize goes to the guy from the Cook Islands who came not just with a flower headdress for himself, but one for the Clydesider pretending to be the official flag bearer.
4) People in funny bibs, 'HMQ', 'Headline Talent Stand In' being prime examples.
