Pigeon-hole people

Ever since I've been teaching it's always amused me that students are often quite taken aback when they meet you outside school.

I remember one young girl many years ago who came up to me at school and said "Miss - I saw you at the weekend in the supermarket and you had bread in your trolley."

OMG - I'd been rumbled! Confesson time - I shop! I eat! Aren't we supposed to eat, sleep and live in our pigeon holes? We're not supposed to have lives outside of school or do 'normal' things!

The teacher only day today heralded the start of a new term, a new year and another pigeon-hole lifestyle.........
