Two Swans with Cygnets
Had to go into Arbroath today to take some drycleaning in, and so stopped off at the Keptie Pond to see how the birds were thriving. I was shocked to find the pond covered over with an algae. I googled the problem when I got home and discovered that the water system (bore hole) that keeps the water in the pond fresh has broken down and the Local Council haven't gotten round to repairing it yet! To clear the unwanted growth cost an estimated £8,000 a year before the installation of the bore hole.
I think the birds must be able to feed on the algae - for instance, I wanted a shot of this swan family but couldn't capture them when all their heads were out of the water! They were ever ducking their heads under the water and obviously enjoying what they found.
Not so hot today - only 25 degrees as I drove home. Have a nice everyone:-)
