Kirkmichael

This wee kirk in Avonside (A'anside) served both sides of the river. When the bridge was swept away in the 19th century, those on the other side used stilts to cross the river on the Sabbath. This continued until the church fell into disuse. It was sold in 2004 to be used as a house. However this has never happened, possibly because the kirkyard is still in use and visited by relatives often!
