Cape fuchsia
Not a fuchsia at all, of course, but Phygelius capensis, from South Africa, as the name suggests.
This is the species from which, with the pale yellow P. aequalis, the first hybrid was made. My late friend John May produced Phygelius x rectus 'African Queen' in his garden at Wimborne in Dorset.
These are suckering shrubs which flower for a long period in summer and come in a range of colours. Great garden plants.
