Peninsula Light

Avoch, by the Inner Moray Firth, on the (not so) Black Isle.

Walk from Avoch to Chanonry Point, and back. Took the old railway line path between Avoch and Fortrose, rather than the shoreline. The tide was too high. Snowing heavily first thing. Has been extremely frosty for a while now, and much of the wildlife has been suffering . Found a dead Meadow Pipit at the point, that literally looked as though it had just dropped dead. On its back. Feet in the air. Though better of using that as a Blip, though it would record the reality.

Sub zero all day, so plenty layers required. "Wellies are wonderful," to quote Mr Connelly. Those thick insoles in mine add a very useful insulating layer too. None of yer fancy posh Hunter variety for the likes of me. Though they are green. A mere £9 from one of the industrial suppliers in Inverness. Best bargain in years. Have had them for years. Walked many a mile. No sign of Mr Connelly's reckoning on what they keep in. At least not to my nose. Thankfully.
