Snapdragon

Some children nowadays are given very strange names like Apple, Tigerlily and Blue Ivy and when I was very young I called my new doll Snapdragon because I liked the flowers. Today I don’t think it would be a name considered by anyone.
The colourful antirrhinum or snapdragon flowers are so called because the flower looks like a dragon’s mouth opening and closing when the sides are squeezed. The bees don’t worry about being snapped by the flowers as they search for nectar.
