My Best Efforts - Year 3

Feeling Lazy!......

.......so I decided I would have the old standby for lunch - fish and chips!! The F & C shop in our village serves excellent ones and have won many Awards.

However, I digress - on my way there, I spotted this very pretty little rose growing up a trellis. I was fascinated by the glaucus leaves so looked in the Peter Beale catalogue - this is what it said - "The Albas are a refined group of roses. Flowers in various pastel pink, white and blush shades are usually exquisitely perfumed. Perhaps the most note-worthy distinction between these and the other groups of old shrub roses, is the foliage. Glaucus (bluish) in shade, the leaves of the Albas also tend to be of a matt texture - a delightful non-intruding foil to the flowers".

BOUI for today:
The legend is that GLAUKOS (or Glaucus) was a mortal fisherman but who was transformed into a sea-god after eating a magical herb. Others, however described him as a marine born son of Nereus. He was described as a blue-skinned merman, with copper-green hair and a serpentine fish-tail in place of legs. Hence the connection between the bluish colour of the leaves and the blue-skinned merman!

Spoke to Anni earlier - she said it was teeming with rain! - she is only 30miles away - and here it is bright with the sun trying to get through! Maybe we are in for it later but no sign as yet!

The weather here is quite sunny now - we could do with some of Annis rain though - temperature is reading 70 Deg F so very pleasant.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
