A Rainbow of Chaos
We live in a rainbow of chaos - Paul Cezanne
Yesterday Bantry was heaving and there was not a single parking space left (fun fair in the car park, big fair day) so Himself decided to go to Skibbereen and do the weekly shop there this morning. I came for a mooch around the market - a very good one. A little girl band were busking, just about everything you could imagine was for sale and the atmosphere was convivial. It is also Skibbereen Arts Week and we went in search of some. We were not disappointed. Several galleries were open - the first was in an old printing works, an interesting exhibition of scultpures and layered abstract paintings. We then went on to the Old Bottling Plant and were especially impressed by some mysterious and haunting photography.
Back home and a yomp around the circuit, stopping off for a cuppa, scone and catch up with Annabel at the Heron Gallery. We were just enjoying our Earl Grey when I realised that the American family next to us had purchased a copy of my book! Not only that the mum was reading aloud from it. Yikes, I hope all those facts were correct! I had to go up and introduce myself and it was all awesome, which is good!
A refreshing swim has just been taken, unfortunately a few jellies are of the same mind but so far they have been surprisingly scarce.
The village is heaving and the two pubs packed as the Regatta weekend continues. Last night Graham Norton hosted the quiz. Sadly this year we didn't go as the tickets came on sale when we were on the Aran islands. Apparently they sold out in 9 minutes! Tonight it's the Hawaiian beach party and yellow sand has just been deposited on the grey sand/shingle. Interestingly it's high tide at 9.30 when the beach vanishes. Wonder if they've thought of that.
And you have to guess what tonight's blip is.
