I think they're... Holy Mackerel!

We were in the Russian grocery store today, because (and I have it on good authority) there will be borscht and blini with salmon caviar served tomorrow. While items were being ordered at the deli counter, I noticed these chaps giving me the once-over from the display case - hot-smoked mackerel.
