Too late for me to eat

I asked fellow blippers if I could eat these artichokes a few weeks back but apart from PJ who suggested just giving it a go, I am still none the wiser. I will leave it until next year and then take one to the local garden centre for advice.

In the meantime this artichoke is providing a good source of nourishment for the bees. So maybe their need is greater than mine.
