Amanita

I went for a wander up to my patch today, The heather is starting to bloom and the bracken is very high. There was a stiff breeze blowing so it was more pleasant walking than in the close weather we've had of late. Not ideal weather for wildlife photography though, as flying things such as birds, butterflies and bugs were either sensibly hunkered down, or being buffeted by the wind. This rather nice Amanita excelsa (Grey Spotted Amanita) stepped up to the mark. Whilst fungi often require high ISO, long exposure or flash, at least they don't fly off at the critical moment. If the wind drops, I may venture out on a dawn raid tomorrow.
