Once upon a time

As our WI has launched a historical project about our village in the 20th century, my interest in the history of other villages nearby has been awakened!
This is a former Methodist church and school in Milborne Port which we visited this afternoon. It is very extensive, now converted into apartments and cottages. Built in the 19th century, there are still people in that village whose lives were marked by the services and ceremonies held here.
We visited friends who live in part of the old school at the rear of the building. Their flat was spacious and had lovely deep windowsills showing the depths of the walls. Masses of flowers are grown all around the building, warm and peaceful in the sunshine, as the church is tucked away in a quiet corner.
