Arta caves
Had a good look around the village of Arta today, starting with a walk through the centre which was all decked out for fiesta. It looked very festive and inviting.
Then walked read climbed all the way to San Salvador church and got some really good views of the whole village. Lovely church there and was nice to see a service in session, would have loved to have stayed.
We then drove to the caves in Arta which I have to say were AMAZING! We have seen other caves with stalagmites and stalactites before but these were by far the best ones and really deep and high. Loved it. Here's just one photo of the many we all took.
Then home for a swim at the closest beach followed by a lovely family meal at one of Sarah and Thomas' favourite restaurant here. It was out on an open verandah, which lots of entertainment from my boys with the bugs that were all around. Martin and I had an authentic paella which we loved!
Fabulous meal, fabulous day, wonderful people to be with :)
PS. Forgot to mention that we ended the night sitting out on their terrace under the stars till 1am watching and waiting for shooting stars because Thomas said that around this time of the year, St Lawrence's tears (shooting stars) are very prominent. We saw about 6 that night.
