Messing around in boats
What could be better on a sunny August day than taking a boat out on the river? At the Anchor Inn near Balcombe, you can paddle up and down the Ouse, a river which begins and ends in Sussex, joining the sea at Newhaven. Here it is narrow and slow-moving, winding it's way sleepily through fields fringed with willow and alder.
Mum and Dad sat in front, and Luke and I were behind them. We all had a paddle and tried hard to coordinate our efforts..and succeeding very well, I think, due to Luke's instructions :-)
Later on, after lunch in a pub garden, we walked along another section of the Ouse from the lovely town of Lewes, which nestles under the South Downs.
A Perfect Day
