Summer in the Hebrides

My mum arrived on the plane this morning, visiting us for a few days. In the afternoon we went over to Callanish to grab lunch at the Callanish Stones Visitor Centre cafe. I hadn't even thought about it being peak tourist season as my mum usually comes off peak. Luckily we arrived about ten minutes before two coach loads of folk did, so got our lunch nice and quickly - a lovely panino with bacon, brie and cranberry. We were also lucky at the stones, arriving just as a group of foreign teenagers (who were trying to climb up the stones - very annoying) were leaving. We got a bit of a drenching in a passing shower... but that's the authentic Hebridean experience. This blip summed it up - although they were lucky to be able to put a brolly up - it's usually too windy!

We were supposed to be going to St. Kilda tomorrow, but a strong south westerly wind has lead to it being cancelled, which is a shame, but we always knew it might. Oh well, next time...
