If you wanted to know..

..got the chores done this morning, dropped a float off to A for tomorrows Football and barbie on the sports field, and posted a surprise package to B..

Then off to Lochinver for the games. G and I do some judging in the produce show. I do the vegetables and flowers, while G did the preserves and baking. She got to taste all those cakes. Oh well, at least I still on-line with the diet!!

Judging veges is quite easy really, the largest category was for potatoes with 8 entries. Once the damaged, green, scabby ones were disregarded, was left with four entries. One was mismatched by shape and size, one was better but with one slightly smaller than the other two. That left two entries with perfect oval potatoes, all were about 3 inches long, and just over an inch wide. Not the biggest, but the most even. There were some black marks on one, so that got second, leaving a winner.

The entries were better this year than previous years, both in number, and quality. I think there was a bit more competition between entrants too. That's good. But still there were simple errors. One entrant in the "6 marigolds" only had 5 in the pot. Instant failure.

Lots of girls dancing, kids running and jumping, pipers piping, and big burly men throwing things about..
